A Shocking Development

Inside the shack, Soos put Mabel down.
“ Dude, sky’s goin nuts! We have got to stay inside.”

“Soos, Dipper is out there! we have to find him!” Mabel said, fixing to go back out.

“Dipper is here dude, he came in a few minutes ago! He went into the room. Don’t worry so much.” Soos said patting her head. Mabel started up the stairs. She couldn't help but wonder how her brother got here so fast. Surely she would have seen him, she wasn't that far from the shack when she turned back. The house shook as the thunder roared and Mabel jumped, startled. She then hurried up the steps to the attic, where she indeed saw her brother. He was asleep on the bed, perfectly dry. ‘Odd’  Mabel thought. She was still soaked to the bone, yet her brother looked as if he had been here for hours. Thunder roared again, deafeningly loud this time, shaking the shack making it feel like an earthquake. The lights flickered, making it go dark for a split second. Mabel ran over to her sleeping brother.

“Dipper? Are you awake? Dipper?” Not even a stir. Mabel just shrugged, it was tiring to run through the rain anyway. She dried herself off, and changed into some dry clothes. Then she realized, it was barely noon when they entered the forest, and they were only in for 30 minutes at the most! Also, Dipper never took naps!
“Dipper! Dipper wake up!” She shook him, slightly panicked, fearing the worst. To her relief he stirred, sat up and rubbed his eyes.

“Wha- Mabel? What are you doing? I was sleeping!”

“How did you get here and fall asleep so quickly? Why are you even asleep so early in the day?” Mabel questioned. Dipper looked at his wristwatch.

“Mabel, its half past 3. I have been asleep for 3 hours. That is not so early. Are you ok?”

Mabel shook her head in disbelief. “We were in the forest, how could you have been here?”

“What are you talking about Mabel? We never went into the forest. We can go right now if you want. It’s perfect weather to explore.” With those words, Mabel looked out the window, opening her mouth to argue, but was cut short. The sky was a cloudless blue and nothing looked even remotely wet. Confused, Mabel looked back at her brother. But before she could utter another word, she heard the door of the mystery shack open.

“Kids! I'm back! Come look what i brought ya!” ‘Grunkle Stan! Perhaps he would know what to do!  Oh, yeah. He thinks anything weird is all in our heads. Perhaps i just forgot three hours of my life.‘ Mabel thought.

“Dipper, is it possible to forge-” Mabel turned her head only to find her brother gone. Going downstairs, she found her brother talking to Stan. Walking up to them, she thought she saw Dipper flicker, as would a tv or a flame. The longer she looked, the more her eyes saw through what Mabel realized was an illusion. This, thing was pretending to be her brother. Realizing this, Mabel left the living room and entered the attic. Pacing, she began to sort out her thoughts. First off, whatever that was, it was not her brother. Second her brother was missing, and it was up to Mabel to find him.
