Immersed in the pitch darkness, Mabel instinctively clung to Dipper. It was more out of force of habit than fear, even though she was nervous. She always felt safer with Dipper at her side; they both knew that Mabel could handle herself for physically she was stronger. Dipper was strongest emotionally, so even though Mabel was better in a fight, she was vulnerable in emotional situations, and he still felt led to protect her. They were pulled out of their thoughts when lightning came out of nowhere and struck the ground a foot in front of them. The noise that came next was louder than anything the Twins have ever heard, and it left them stunned.

“What is lightning doing under the trees” Dipper asked nervously as soon as their ears stopped ringing. Then the wind picked up significantly. Another flash of lightning came, but from farther away. The flash of light that came allowed them to see for a split second. They saw a what looked like a mini tornado, but it was as big as the trees!.

“Run!” they yelled to each other, and they began running the way they came.

“Something weird is definitely going on now.” Dipper said, panting as they ran. Mabel stumbled and fell behind. Stopping to let Mabel catch up, Dipper grabbed her hand and continued running. The forest seemed endless. They entered a clearing that allowed moonlight in. They ran faster, now being able to see. Dipper then tripped on a tree root that seemed to come out of nowhere, letting go of Mabel, who kept going due to momentum, and stopped a few feet ahead. The rain grew thicker, making it hard to see through. Unable to see for a second time, Mabel called out to Dipper. ‘Maybe he ran ahead?’ She thought. She waited a few more seconds. After no reply, she ran the direction where he was, but he was gone. She then ran towards the exit of the forest, making it out with only a few scratches.

“Dipper? Dipper are you here?” Mabel called, worriedly. Again no reply. Just as she was going to run back into the forest, Soos ran up from the direction of the shack, picked her up and ran back inside.
